Bodie is a ghost town in northern California. It was a Gold mining town established around 1877. It went through a few booms and busts but was eventually abandoned. The State of California took over Bodie in 1962 and has maintained the town in a state of “arrested decay” since then. It is an amazing place to make photographs and you can almost feel the spirit of Bodie as you walk around the site.   For more information go to the California State Parks website:

If you go to visit Bodie, also plan on visiting Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area (Mono Lake): http://www.monolake.org/visit/vc

And of course you could also visit Yosemite National Park which is west of Mono Lake.
