Colorado National Monument is adjacent to the City of Grand Junction and the town of Fruita. It consists of a main, 23 mile, paved road with three tunnels. About midway on the paved road there is a Welcome Center and Camping area, Additionally there numerous hiking trails and entries to the basin itself. This is not a place to just “Visit.” I suggest you spend some time here. I have been told it is not a National Park because of it’s size. But because of it’s diversity, it really takes MONTHS just to scan the area.
